Anyone wishing to use an online service on a city administration portal usually has to identify themselves. To do this, you create a user account – just like in an online store – and use it for digital identification and digital communication with the authorities. If you would like to use the “Business registration” online service of the Munich City Administration, you must have a BayernID user account.
Don’t have a BayernID user account yet? Then you can register at www.bayernid.freistaat.bayern
Is the BayernID available in English? Yes, the language can be changed either via the DE|EN icons in the top bar or via the account management under the menu item “My settings”.
Who can I turn to of I need help? Contact details and further information have been published in the BayernID FAQs.
There are various options for registration:
- You assign a user name and a password after you have entered your personal data such as name, date and place of birth, address and an e-mail address in the registration form itself. This option is suitable for online procedures that do not have any special security requirements such as for registering a business with the Munich trade office.
(Trust level “Basic registration”) - Are you already using the electronic tax return and therefore have an ELSTER user account? Then you can use your ELSTER certificate and the corresponding password for registration. Your personal data will be automatically transferred from your ELSTER user account. This option is suitable for online procedures that require the written form. You don’t have an ELSTER certificate yet? You can create an ELSTER certificate on ELSTER.
(Trust level „Substantial“) - Do you have an online ID card, i.e. the German National Identity Card, an electronic residence permit or an eID card with activated eID function? Then you can register using the ID card and a card reader or an NFC-enabled smartphone with the “AusweisApp2” app. Your personal data will be automatically transferred from your online ID card. Citizens from a country of the European Union (EU) can identify and authenticate themselves using the eID medium approved in their home country. This variant is not yet supported by all EU member states.
